Yesterday Morning between the hours of 10 and 11 a man in the Government employ, at the Saw Mill known as Capt. Miller's Mill, but under the control of Capt. Irwin, Q. M. was killed instantly by being caught by the fly wheel belt, and carried around one or two revolutions. In his course round he was struck in the head by projecting beam which broke his skull and it is also thought broke his neck at the same time. His chest was also mashed in. Any one of the three named injuries were sufficient to produce death.

His name was Vincent West, and was a citizen of this State and county. He leaves a wife and one child, also a dependent mother; an Inquest was held over his body by P. B. Coleman Esquire, who returned a verdict in accordance with the above facts.
