Orestes Minoso Suffers Injury
CHICAGO (INS) Orestes (Minnie) Minoso, fleet centerfielder of the Chicago White Sox, injured his right ankle Sunday in the first game of a doubleheader with the Washington Senators and will be out of the lineup for three or four days.
Club officials said that X-rays revealed that Minoso suffered torn ligaments along the top of the instep.
The Cuban star injured his foot on an attempted steal of second base. Minoso drew a walk in the first inning. As he neared second base in an attempted steal, he slid for the base.
Minoso injured the ankle as he tried to hook it on the bag to avoid being tagged out.
