Tame Bear In Ohio
So He Is Destroyed

LOGAN, Ohio, (AP) A 250-pound
black bear, who no one seemed to
want, was killed yesterday by an
official of the Ohio Division of
Wildlife. It was feared the animal
might injure someone.

The bear, believed to have been
a pet, was discovered last Thursday
roaming in wooded hill country
near here.

He ate from people's hands and
did tricks for news photographers.
But several zoos turned down offers
to take the animal, so Wildlife
officials ordered him destroyed.
They said that although he was
tame, he could become vicious if
teased and they feared the safety
of neighboring farm families.
