Full Text
THE RETIREMENT of Moroni Green from the presidency of the Western Union Telegraph Company, removes from the head of the great monopoly, the man who has done more, perhaps, than any other to bring the telegraph service up to its present high state of perfection, and to make the W. U. one of the greatest corporations of the age. Mr. Green has been connected with the company for many years, and being an active worker and possessing remarkable executive ability, much of the excellent practical working of the concern is due to his personal labor. It is possible that his retirement is like that of so many of the old U. S. superintendents and managers, the voluntary stepping out at the invitation of the new "bosses." If so, the new deal has added another to the many good and efficient men that it has thrown out.
