FRUITLAND.
Sept. 28.—Mr. Jerry Beddingfield, Mr. Harvey Maxwell and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Beddingfield attended the recent funeral of Mr. Will Laughter at Forest City.

Mrs. Jack Giles is on the sick list.

Mrs. Hattie Cannon and son, Clyde, of Gerton, visited Mrs. Sam Stepp recently. They also visited Mr. Sol Sumner, who is very ill at this time.

A large crowd attended the Hill-Hyder reunion at Dana school.

Mrs. Birch Morrison, of Rosman, called on her sister, Mrs. R. R. Lyda, Sunday.

Mr. Perry Lyda of Glendale, S. C., and Miss Alice Kennedy, of Rutherford, were dinner guests of Sam Stepp last Sunday.

Vaya Pryor, who has been working at Oak Park Inn, has returned home for a while.

Among those visiting Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Stepp were: Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Pittillo and children, Hoyt, Peggy and Connell, of Pisgah Forest, and Perry Lyda of Glendale, S. C.

Miss Leafie Stepp, of West Asheville, was home Sunday on a visit.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Westall visited Mr. and Mrs. D. P. Rogers last Sunday night.

Mrs. Gus Sumner, of Asheville, is visiting her brother, Mr. Sol Sumner, who is very ill.

Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Lyda and children of Glendale, S. C., were guests recently of Mr. and Mrs. Bud Lyda.

Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Hill visited Mr. and Mrs. Luke Sinclair recently.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ingram called on Mr. and Mrs. N. W. Getz last Sunday.

Miss Sophia Edney, who has been ill, is able to be out again.

Mr. Jay Pryor and son, Howard, and Sam Stepp made a business trip to High Pine Friday.

Mrs. Plato Lanning is ill.

Mrs. Grant Laughter called on her sister, Mrs. Andy Lyda, Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Pryor, Sam Stepp and Howard Pryor made a business trip to Gerton Saturday.

Several in this community are making molasses.

Arthur Garren had the misfortune to lose his horse recently.

Mrs. J. O. Taylor called on her mother in Hendersonville Sunday.
