College Choir To Appear Here Tonight
Hardin is one of 16 Montana communities in which the Rocky Mountain college choir will appear during its annual between-semesters good-will tour.
The 31-voice a cappella choir, under the direction of Prof. Philip Turner, head of the music department of the college, will present a public concert in the First Congregational church here at 8 p. m. tonight. The program, sponsored by the church, will feature sacred selections.
While in Hardin, members of the choir will be overnight guests of local residents. Housing arrangements are in charge of a committee headed by Mrs. Bert Kronmiller. An evening fellowship meal will be served the choir at the church before the concert.
Choir members are selected by audition and the group is composed of students studying in all departments of this Protestant church-related college in Billings. Members are residents of Montana, Wyoming, Illinois, New Jersey and Minnesota.
Among numbers on the choral program are "O Rejoice Ye Christians Loudly," by Bach; "Judge Me O God," by Mendelssohn; "Lost in the Night," by Christiansen, and "Balm in Gilead," arranged by Dawson.
The choir tour serves two major purposes. Besides bringing to communities a program of well-selected sacred music, it also provides an opportunity for Montanans to become acquainted with the purpose, objectives and results of Rocky Mountain college, the only Protestant church-related institution of higher learning in Montana and Wyoming.
