LONDON, July 25.

To the PRINTER.

SIR,

As it is now the time for putting in claims, I can see no reason why I should not put in my claim, as well as the rest. And, Sir, as you will find immediately, this claim of mine is not desired for my own benefit alone, but also for the benefit of Great-Britain and Ireland, the dominion of Wales, and Town of Berwick upon Tweed.

I do therefore, in the name of the aforesaid, lay claim to all the conquest we have made from the French both in the East and West Indies; all Canada, Goree, and Senegal, Guadaloupe, Belleisle, and, in short, all that we have taken from them any where; let not one Inch of it be given back. It is ours by conquest; it is, therefore, ours by right: our blood and treasure have paid for it. Perfidious, faithless Frenchmen forced us, almost against our will, to take up arms to defend our own rights: That we have been enabled to do, and have come off conquerors into the bargain. Now is the time, therefore, to act wisely; and not be over reached by any wheedling oily tongued Frenchmen whatever.

We will willingly and readily put up with the losses we have sustained: Let them do the same. But why do I say, Let them do the same? Let Great Britain make them do it. The power is now in our own hands: and if they do not like these, let us endeavour to take still more from them, and keep that also. I know no other way to deal with them, to keep them quiet. They will be ever disturbing Great Britain, if they have it in their power. They have at all times fulfilled the old proverb: Let them have an inch, and they will make free to take an ell. Let them have the least footing in Canada, and they will, as soon as it suits them endeavour to have it all.

I am, Sir, your very humble servant.
