Extract of a Letter from Salem, Sept. 13. 1766.

Advice is received here from Martinico of a violent Hurricane the 13th of August, attended with an Earthquake: It is said 21 Sail of Vessels are destroyed, some ashore, drove up into the Streets and not like to be got off; Two Thousand Souls lost by the destruction of the Houses, &c. I do not learn how it was felt at the other Islands,--There are three Vessels belonging to this Town said to be ashore, and a new Brig belonging to Marblehead.--The Vessel that brings this Account had 19 Days Passage, and narrowly escaped.
