Haile Selassie Returns Home

ADDIS ABABA. Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie returned home last week to a tumultuous welcome and scores of domestic and foreign problems which have accumulated during his five-month absence.

Lion's mane headdresses and wild spear-brandishing, mixed with stiff court etiquette and top hats, marked Selassie's return from a visit of the New World as well as most of Western Europe.

From the airport to the palace, the road was lined with thousands of cheering subjects--squadrons of white-robed Galla irregulars brandishing spears and riding rough mountain ponies, groups of tall male dancers led by a man in a red-hued feather cloak, hunters wearing the manes and skins of spear-slain lions.
