Full Text

OBSTRUCTING THE PAVEMENTS.—If we are not mistaken, there can be found, among the city ordinances, one providing that the sidewalks shall be kept clear of obstructions. This, so far as our observation has extended, has for some time past been a complete dead letter. Boxes, bales, bundles, and hoop skirts exposed for sale, have, in certain localities, monopolized the pavements, to the great inconvenience of foot passengers. Why no steps have been taken to enforce the ordinance provided in this case we don't know, and, as we understand that it will be enforced hereafter in all cases, we allude to the matter now, in order that business men and others may take warning and flee the wrath to come.
