S. S. America Crew Is 100 Per Cent For Democracy

NEW YORK—Crew members of the ship, S. S. America, recently decided to do a good turn for democracy.

Delegates from various departments of the ship drew up a public statement putting the crew "on record as being against all kinds of racial discrimination in our nation" and "one hundred per cent behind the efforts of the NAACP to bring these diseases to an end."

The statement also called for a "voluntary donation to be collected among members of the crew, to be sent to the NAACP organization to help it proceed in its struggle."

Last week, a representative of the crew, Heriberto Borreno, brought to Association headquarters here $61 in NAACP memberships sent by the seamen of the S. S. America.
