Sales Tax Rejected By Canadian Business

Montreal, June 21.—The Canadian sales tax was declared "economically unsound" by Dominion business men at the annual convention of the Canadian Manufacturers' Association in this city.

The tax was recently reduced from six to five per cent. It was declared that the tax has raised the cost of living in Canada, has pyramided costs to manufacturers and placed a heavy handicap on them.

The sales tax has been strongly urged in the United States, and the Dominion of Canada was cited by sales tax enthusiasts as an example of the benefits that follow this legislation.
