Politicks run very high, but no change in the Ministry is likely to take place at present. I have nothing particular to say upon the subject, but what you will see in the publick prints. Lord Chatham, in all whose actions may be seen the expiring efforts of a man panting after popularity, has declared in favour of the remonstrants, and it is said has offered to present the Westminster remonstrance (should its inhabitants draw up one) with his own hands. An anecdote, which I heard of him last week, may perhaps make you smile: Lord Chatham having been uncommonly warm upon some subject in the House of Peers, Lord Mansfield motioned several times that Chatham might be committed to the Tower. At length, towards the close of the evening, that noble veteran, being seized with a fit of the gout, rose from his seat and informed their Lordships of his unfortunate case, adding, at the same time, that, as he was inclined to withdraw, he should be glad to have their Lordships' sentiments, "whether he should repair to his lodgings in Pallmall, or to the new ones which the Noble Lord in the Chair had kindly provided for him."
