On Friday came to the Hotel in Jermyn street, Governour Vaughan, who arrived on Tuesday last at Portsmouth, from St. John's, Newfoundland. The frigate in which the above Gentleman came passenger was escorted by a 74 gun ship, which foundered and went down, and every person perished, in a violent storm off the banks of Newfoundland. The frigate was likewise in the greatest distress; it having sprung a leak, was obliged to heave her guns overboard, when the Tortola, seeing the frigate in distress, bore down to her, and took their hands on board.
