That the mills of the gods grind slowly but surely is about to be illustrated in Ohio. To save some of the Democratic roughs and ballot-box stuffers from the penitentiary the Democratic Supreme Court of that State recently decided that the registration law of Hamilton county and Cincinnati was unconstitutional and consequently its violation was no violation of law. Subsequently it decided that it was competent for a Democratic clerk to issue certificates of election to Democratic candidates for the Legislature, although it was known at the time that the returns were fraudulent. This was to secure the election of four Democratic Senators, which would control the political complexion of the State Senate. To do this the returns for Supreme Judge were withheld by the clerk until these decisions were rendered, as counting them according to law, would have displaced a Democratic Judge and installed a Republican Judge, giving the Republicans a majority. Immediately after these two decisions were rendered a mandamus was issued to compel the clerk at Cincinnati to forward the returns to Columbus to be counted. This was done and the Republican Judge seated. Now it is understood that the Supreme Court, in view of the decision of the Democratic Court, that the registration laws of Hamilton county and Cincinnati are unconstitutional, will declare that the election held under these laws is null and void, and all the polls will be thrown out and a new election ordered. This will oust all the Democratic senators who hold the fraudulent certificates of election and relegate the whole matter to the people, for them to determine whether Democratic fraud and rascality are to constitute the rule and the law for Hamilton county and Cincinnati. So the pit the Democratic rascals dug for the Republicans will receive their own precious carcasses.
