Extract of a letter from an American House dated Cape Henry, (Hayti) June 9, received per schr. Ann Maria, Capt. Brown, at Baltimore. We are informed by the supercargo of an English Merchant ship, arrived at Port au Prince, but who was obliged to leave that place for Gonaives, in consequence of the distressed situation of the inhabitants, that there was little doubt but the King Christophe would shortly succeed in the taking of Port-au-Prince. He also stated that Christophe's fleet, consisting of the frigate Beaver of 44 guns, the brig Superior of 22 guns, the brig Gen. Magny of 18 guns, and several schrs. arrived at Gonaives from a cruize, and that they only waited for a supply of provisions to proceed to their station at Port-au-Prince. The officers and men of the Kings squadron, are in high spirits, and bid defiance to the Naval force of Petion.
