What is this article about?
Cherokees violated Fort Loudoun capitulation, massacring the commanding officer, most officers, and 25 soldiers, dispersing about 200 as slaves or for sacrifice. Capt. Stuart was spared, bought by Little Carpenter, and taken to Col. Byrd. Cherokees now threaten Fort Prince George, planning to kill prisoners unless it surrenders.

Extract of a Letter from Fort Bedford, in this Province, dated September 26.
"I am sorry I have no better news to communicate than the fresh Instance of want of Sincerity and Humanity in the Cherokees, who instead of fulfilling the Terms of the Capitulation of Fort Loudoun, by conducting the Garrison to Fort Prince George, as they had engaged to do, fell upon them unawares, butchered the Commanding Officer in the most cruel Manner, killed all the Officers except Capt. Stuart, put to Death 25 Soldiers on the Spot, and dispersed the rest (about 200) among the Towns to be Slaves or Sacrificed.
They are now gone against Fort Prince George. Its thought they reserved Capt. Stuart in order to make use of him towards the surrender of that Garrison; but the Little Carpenter purchased him, and has brought him with three other white Men to Col. Byrd. You may depend on this as fact. The Express that pass'd here Yesterday in his way to Fort Pitt, brought me a Letter from Major Erwin, dated the 15th Inst. at Sayers Mill, where Col. Byrd is now encamped, waiting for Orders from Williamsburg. It's thought they will kill all the Prisoners they now have, if the Garrison of Fort Prince George does not surrender: and that if it does they will put the whole to Death when they have them in their Power."
