Full Text

Reservists To The Fore
It is understood that the commissioned officer set-up at Camp Davis is to be about 20 per cent regular army men and 80 per cent reservists. It is a fair assumption that the situation at Camp Davis is similar to that at the other camps where the draft army is to be trained.
It is a splendid tribute to the reserve officers corps that so large a percentage of the men upon whom rests the duty of turning recruits into seasoned soldiers is coming from its ranks. It also proves the wisdom which was back of the formation of the reserves.
Naturally the regular army could not possibly provide officers for the great army now forming. It is probably feeling the effects of the transfers from the regular service to the special training service, as it is. To draw more heavily upon the officer strength of the regular army would impose a heavy handicap upon that organization.
But with a strong reserve corps of trained officers available, it is obvious that the new army will not lack for guidance.
