FRIDAY MORNING, SEPT. 15, 1843.
THE ELECTION.
The following returns indicate the result of the late election. The popular vote is not so large by several thousand as it was last year. Three thousand Whig voters in Windsor and Orange Counties have neglected to go to the polls. In Caledonia county, also, our friends have been in a most profound snooze. In fact, out of this Congressional District, the Whig strength has not been brought out in any part of the State. As it is however, we have given the Loco Focos a terrible drubbing. The Senate will stand 21 Whigs to 9 Locos. Last year it was 16 to 14—showing a Whig gain of ten in our majority in that body.
In the House the whig strength is 120 to 90 Loco Focos, so far as heard from. The remaining towns will not change the result. Our majority will not be less than forty in joint ballot. Last year it was but thirty-one. This result is much more favorable than we anticipated from the general apathy our friends on the east side of the mountain. The vote for Governor, so far as we have returns, is as follows:
Majority against Kellogg—6220!
If the Loco Focos are not satisfied with the floggellation they have got this year, let them try it again in 1844.

George P. Marsh and Solomon Foot are ascertained to be elected to Congress by majorities of from eight hundred to a thousand each. Judge Collamer, lacks about 200 votes of an election, and Mr. Dillingham is still in doubt.
