Let's Support our Museum
And Reap The Benefits
Once again, the St. Croix Museum is making an appeal for funds to carry on its work during the present year, and there is every reason why its efforts should be crowned with success.
In the first place it is a privilege of no mean significance for a small island like ours with its meager population and one crop economy to have a museum. Only the altruistic efforts of its founders and faithful supporters could make such an achievement possible. Only the whole hearted support of the general public can help keep it alive and enable it to serve us in the best ways possible.
One of the main tasks of the museum is to preserve for posterity all that is historic, all that is artistic, all that is worth preserving in the life and times of mankind. Certainly charity begins at home and since the promoters have this uppermost in their minds that alone should urge us to do our part willingly.
The fee is ten dollars a year, less than 20c a week, less than 3c a day, sums which most of us spend for non-essentials without giving them a thought, but they will go far in supporting our Museum and give us a share in one of the most praiseworthy and far reaching movements in our history.
Our Museum can serve inhabitants of all ages as a source of inspiration and satisfaction to all our pursuits. When tied to the tourist trade it can bring us year round visitors of the most substantial type which means more money in circulation that will benefit the merchant, the mechanic, the farmer, the butcher, the baker and the calypso dancer.
This then is our BIG CHANCE to support our Museum and reap the benefits.
Did You Know?
That visitors from many parts of the world have visited your Museum and have expressed their reaction to it in words like:
"As good a museum as you would find in far larger places.
Such marvelous material so beautifully displayed.
The people here should indeed be proud of their museum."
So BE PROUD OF YOUR MUSEUM. It costs but $10.00 a year.
