FROM OUR BALTIMORE CORRESPONDENT.

Aug. 24, 10 o'clock, P. M.—By Express, at 9 o'clock, the armies were encamped without coming to a general engagement.

The last Express left Bladensburg about half past 3 o'clock, and arrived here before 9. Our troops which formed the advance of Gen. Winder's force, were then falling back on the main body which was near the city.

Eleven o'clock.—Another Express has just arrived. There has been a severe battle. The 5th regt. and the other troops from this place have behaved gallantly. Gen. Stansbury is either killed or severely wounded. Major Pinkney wounded and taken prisoner, and Col. Sterret severely wounded. Our troops have retreated into Washington, the enemy pursuing.
