VOCATIONAL NEWS

The Machine Shop boys have finished the drill press they have been working on. Plumb bobs have been made for the Mason Shop. Daniel Friday and Richard Tilden are the new boys in the shop. Ronald Kauyedauty, a former student, is also back in the shop.

New transformers have been installed in Winona Hall, Keokuk Hall, and Osceola Hall by the electricians.

The plumbers will have a shop breakfast tomorrow in the vocational kitchen. Ed Martin and Al Bighorn have made new laundry trays.

Fred Atkinson from the Auto Mechanics Shop has gone to Oakland, Calif., on a job. James Factor and Bennett Thompson are overhauling Mr. Boytt Impson's car. The boys in the shop do overtime work in order that they may obtain working tools. Keep up the good work, boys.

MASONS REPORT WORK

Three masons who are nearing the completion of their bricklaying course are Alfred Cross, Walt Talas, and Marvin Wright. These men will go out on construction work when the weather permits.

The masons have completed various maintenance jobs about the campus: pouring of concrete sidewalks and foundations, along with plastering and tile setting. Vital experience of working under various job conditions was obtained.

In the classroom the young masons have been using workbooks which give them a wider knowledge of blueprint reading and the estimating of material. Different types of wall construction are being taught. Various brick patterns and intersecting partition walls have been stressed.

During the 18 months that they are here, some masons acquire valuable experience by working with contractors in the Lawrence area. Masons who have worked on construction in Lawrence have found that it is an excellent time to improve their work. They have also found self-confidence, which is important to any young man no matter what field of business he is in.
