Pete Blair Makes Appearance
At Navy's Ring Exhibition
Pete Blair, the U. S. Naval Academy's finest wrestler in many years, is slated to appear on tonight's big Navy Boxing and Wrestling show.
The entertaining program gets under way at 7:30 at the Naval Station's Walker Field.
Blair, presently serving as a Lt. (jg) on the USS Lee, is expected to appear as an official or as a competitor. Rumor has it that a rugged Bluejacket stationed on one of the Navy's ships here will be matched against the two-time college champion. If it is impossible to arrange this exhibition, Blair will referee some of the scheduled wrestling bouts.
Eddie Agin, slugging middle weight who was decisioned last week at Newport, R. I. for the All Navy title, will be introduced to the expected large crowd.
Tonight's card will be the same as that announced for the postponed show of last Wednesday night.
The promoter is Charley (Canvasback) Goddard and the big ring show is under the sponsorship of the Naval Station's Special Services Department, headed by Chief Warrant Officer M. D. Penhollow.
Blair, in addition to winning the National Collegiate heavy weight crown in two different years, also copped the National Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) crown one year and later won third place in the Olympics at Australia during late 1956.
