STEPIN FETCHIT OF SCREEN FAME SAID CRITICALLY HURT
NEW YORK, April 26. (UP)--Lincoln Perry, negro comedian known to movie theatre audiences as Stepin Fetchit was injured critically when his auto crashed into an elevated railway pillar when a tire blew out here yesterday. Fetchit, famous for his slow-spoken hired man portrayals, suffered a fractured skull. Police said a blowout caused the machine to swerve out of control. The negro was alone. He was born 40 years ago in Key West, Fla., and took his stage name from a race horse.
