DO YOU REMEMBER NOGALES- 30 YEARS AGO. JULY 6. 1901

Dr. W. F. Chenoweth is in the city from Magdalena, Sonora.

R. Zellner, Jr., the well known and popular piano man, is in the city from Tucson.

John Maloney, the Pina Blanca mine owner, was in the city Tuesday of this week.

L. Lindsay and Bracey Curtis of the Indiana-Sonora Copper company, are in the city.

Sheriff and Mrs. T. J. Turner accompanied by the children, spent the Fourth at Patagonia.

Hon. Colin Cameron, the cattle baron of Lochiel. was a visitor at the county seat Monday and Tuesday of this week.

Otis Moore, the ex-deputy sheriff of Santa. Cruz county who shot and killed Harry Harrison at Washington Camp, is in the city from Sonora, Mexico.

Sam Leeker, one of the proprietor of the El Paso store, is back from his visit to El Paso where he went last week on a combined business and pleasure trip.

This week Probate Judge W. A. O'Connor issued a marriage license to Mr. E B. Sorrels and Miss Maud Bergier,two of Santa Cruz county's most highly respected young people.

Joseph Bergier, the prosperous Ft. Huachuca rancher, was a visitor at the county seat Monday last for the purpose of paying his taxes and purchasing supplies. He drove home Tuesday via Washington Camp road.

Deputy County Recorder Phil Herold, Mr. Henley, manager of the Melczer Mining company's Nogales office, and Teddy Healy of the Oasis, represented Nogales at Patagonia on the Fourth.

The boys report having had a jolly time.

A. S. Noon, who is boring for artesian water at the Cummings ranch near Calabasas. was in the city Tuesday getting supplies.

Mr. Noon expects to strike a large flow of water in a day or two but says the indications are not good for oil.

A. M. Conard. mining man and all-around good fellow, is in from Charley Hays' mines in Sonora. Al has a good bear story which lack.of space prevents publishing. The bear was larger than an ox and smaller than an elephant and gave Al the fight of his life before it was laid low.

Clerk of the District Court S. F. Noon has received a letter from Hon. George R. Davis, judge of the first judicial district, stating that he will not preside over the July term of district court which will convene in Nogales Monday. July 8th. Hon. Fletcher M. Doan, judge of the second judicial district, will preside for Judge Davis, who is slightly indisposed.
