RICHMOND, Va. - NNPA

Gov. William M. Tuck Monday allocated $65,000
for the development of
Edward L. state park
near Farmville.

Grants to the
$150,000 multi-purpose
park fund added to the 1913
[?] the
park development fund.

Plan makes this first Edward
state park for colored citizens
with facilities and equipment con-
siderable to this in other State parks
served. Closed late last year. At the
same time, a suit against the State
seeking equalization of park facili-
ties, was continued indefinitely in
United States District Court here.

The $65,000 released by Governor
Tuck last Monday is the first step
on which William A. Wright, director
of the State Department of Conser-
vation and Development, estimated
may be a $195,000 program for the
site. Mr. N. M. Bennett, of the
Park development. Centering a-
round a large lake, in use for some
eight or nine years as a day-use area
for colored people, it will have cab-
ins, bath houses, a restaurant and
other facilities.
