Napoleon, Emperor of the French and King of Italy, decrees as follows:
Head-Quarters, Austerlitz, Dec. 7:
Art. I. We adopt all the Children of the Generals, Officers and Soldiers, who were killed in the battle of Austerlitz.
II. They Shall be supported and educated at our expense, the boys at the Imperial Palace of Rambouillet, and the girls at the Imperial Palace of St. Germain—the boys Shall be provided for by us, and the girls receive a portion.
III. Besides the christian and family names, they shall be entitled to bear the name of Napoleon.
The Widows of the Officers and Soldiers killed in the battle of Austerlitz, are all pensioned.—A contribution of four millions sterling was levied on the conquered country, to be divided among the French troops as a gratuity.
