GROUNDS TO BE CHOSEN.

Meeting of the Committee on Location Will Be Held Tomorrow Night.

ARMSTRONG TRACT IS IN POPULAR FAVOR.

Association Needs But 50 Acres of 70 for the Half Mile Track, Stand and Sheds—Electric Company to Furnish Power to Pump Water, if Association Will Dig a Well and Install a Motor—Boulevard and Driveway May Be Built From the City to the Fair Grounds.

Meeting of the fair ground committee will be held tomorrow night to consider the matter of selecting a permanent site for the race track fair grounds.

Committee has carefully investigated the available sites and the consensus of opinion is that the Armstrong tract of land, on the top of the hill west of the city, is the only place for a permanent fair ground where track and other facilities can be constructed within a reasonable time. 70 acres in the Armstrong tract, 50 of which will be needed for construction of a half mile track, grand stand, buildings and conveniences. It is probable a company can be formed to take the additional 20 acres not needed by the association, as the tract can be sold in part.

Opinion of members of the committee is that this tract of land be purchased and a first-class race track, grand stand and buildings be built, and arrangements made for a permanent fair ground convenient to the city, a boulevard can be built around the base of the hill to the track, and such that a substantial driveway be built with very little expense. Arrangements can be made with the electric light company for pumping water to the track at a very low cost. Association will dig a well and install a motor in the river bottom which will give the association an independent water supply at a very moderate cost and when considered, this seems to be a feasible plan for securing a fair ground.

Features of the fair will be discussed tomorrow night. Various sites proposed will be considered. It is the intention of the committee to locate permanently where a half mile track can be built. Location will be closely inspected before a deal is made. Association is building track on top of the hill. City will be willing to do a wide, well graded driveway from the south end of the city to the summit, thus affording a driveway for automobiles as well as making a good road from the city to the fair grounds. All are enthusiastic over securing a permanent fair ground here, and steps are being taken by all and there seems no doubt the matter will soon be settled and a fair ground decided at once. Work will begin as soon
