The same Day Captain----, arrived here from the Havana, which Place he left the Second Inst. He acquaints us, That the Day before he sailed from thence, an English officer, that had formerly been a Serjeant, but had obtained a Commission for his Bravery at the Attack of the Moro was executed there for the Murder of an English Soldier. which was occasioned by means of a Woman : and that a Spaniard, who had been one of the Murderers of Meirs. Boyd and Reed, turned King's Evidence. and discovered the whole Scene ; but notwithstanding, he was to be executed the 3d Inst. The Spaniard said there were six concerned, who all fled to the Mountains : and that by the noble Resistance made by Mr Boyd, who got a Hanger in the Fray, they were almost cut to Pieces before they could finish him. Mr. Reed they finished at one Blow, as he was leaning down to draw some Wine out of a Cask for them.
