Full Text

The Canadian papers state that in the eastern part of Lower Canada, especially in the district of Quebec, the potato crop is almost a dead loss. The blight is so severe and so universal in the low lands, that whole fields are being ploughed up, the yield not being worth gathering.-- And it is a singular fact, that previous to the late thunder storm there, the potatoes were perfectly sound, and, three weeks ago, farmers were selling them at four shillings a bushel, out of the same fields which are now entirely destroyed.
