PRETTY TRIBUTE TO JUNEAU.
That was a very fine tribute to Juneau in the interesting illustrated article on the Capital to Capital yacht race by Maurice P. Anderson that appeared in the last Pacific Motor Boat in which it was said:
While the wise heads fuddled with handicaps, the yachtsmen enjoyed the spontaneous welcome of Juneau, a welcome such as only an enthusiastic, friendly population could extend. From the Governor down, every citizen had but the object of finding out what the visitors wanted and seeing that they got it and 'got it quick.' That was Juneau.
Daylight lasted until nearly midnight, only to streak the sky again two hours later. Few managed to get to bed until the last traces of night had disappeared. There were trips of inspection to mines, automobile rides to Mendenhall Glacier, and on July 3rd a cruise up Taku Inlet to the very 'foot of great towering Taku Glacier itself.
After the cruise came a banquet at which were all the yachtsmen as well as what must have been most of Juneau's population.
The article occupied the first sixteen pages in the Motor Boat and contained two score illustrations, including a good full page picture of Juneau.
