The Senate Yesterday.
WASHINGTON, July 12.—The morning hour expired during the debate on the House bill to amend the Railroad Acts, and it was laid over. Credentials of James G. Blaine, were read and filed. The Senate then resumed the impeachment trial. J. J. Fisher of the firm of Evans & Co., post-traders at Fort Sill, testified his firm paid money for the appointment, and thought it was remitted entirely, first $13,000, annually then $6,000 always sent to Marsh. Belknap never addressed his firm any communications in regard to this money. The testimony for the defence then commenced. Generals Pope and Augur, Senators Allison and Wright and others all testified mainly as to the War Department being conducted in a proper manner, and the general reputation of Belknap for probity and fidelity. Senator Carpenter again asked that the court adjourn until the arrival of Evans, and pending the discussion; the Senate sitting as a court of impeachment, adjourned. The legislative business was resumed, and after which the Senate adjourned.

A resolution was then adopted without debate or division, declaring the action of Schenck, in connection with the Emma Mine, while Minister to the Court of St. James, as ill-advised, unfortunate and incompatible with the duties of his position.
The Speaker laid before the House the centennial congratulatory message from the Argentine Congress. House went into Committee of the Whole on the bill for the protection of our Mexican frontier. The section authorizing troops to cross into Mexico in pursuit of bandits provoked a long debate, and Committee rose without action.
The House then adjourned
