Sunday Concerts.

New York, July 19th.--The Herald says: The number and the energy of the protests made yesterday from all classes of the people against the attempt of the Sabbath Committee to stop Sunday concerts in the Park evidently surprised the committee. They could not say what action the committee could take against the decision of Gen. Veile, one of the Park Commissioners, who is not in favor of the concerts. He says: "The German papers, I see, are exulting over the first step in breaking down the odious American Sunday observances. We will soon be having the Sunday scenes on the Prater in Vienna and the Champs Elysees in Paris repeated in Central Park, which will then be nothing but a second Coney Island, under the municipal patronage. Mark my word, if the Anglo-American idea of Sunday keeping and Sabbath is done away with there is destroyed the greatest safeguard against the encroachments of capitalists and monopolists upon the rights of the people. Manufacturing mills and railroads will be run on Sundays and the workmen will be compelled to labor on that day as on the other six days of the week."
