For the MASSACHUSETTS SPY.

To the G---N of the RENOWNED SIR WILLIAM PEPPEARRELL, Bart.

You blessed Simpleton you!

WHAT ten thousand pities 'tis you have not got the other good things that belonged to your grandfather, as well as his money! I never had much hopes of you, for Mr. S--ll could not learn you Hebrew, no more than Mr. O--s could afterwards learn you Latin. When you was in England you did write, and for some time after you came back, you did talk, a great deal about love to your country; but if a Parrot cannot write he can talk what other folks say. We that live here know all that comes to pass among mortal men, and we know how you tried to get chosen a Counsellor, two years to no purpose, and we know how you have acted ever since. You cannot deny but that this is the truth; but I don't choose to tell the whole truth at this time; yet I say nothing but the truth.

I would mention a word or two about some folk you know very well—something I have heard about a Custom-House-Officer, a Privateer's-Man, a Pedlar, and so on; but if I should, all of you would bear me ill will. I am not indeed afraid of any man that has proved himself a Coward. I am not afraid neither of a Liliputian, let him talk ever so big, in defiance even of a whole County.—But I fear an uncircumcised Son of Anak, as all my fathers did of old. I well remember to this day, the terrible condition my poor neighbour B--e's Nose was once in. Yet when I consider how unlikely 'tis that any of your Club should come to live where I am, with father Abraham; my fears abate. But I must defer what I intended till my next dispatch.

JUDAH MONIS.

P. S. Tell any young noddy of a Sandemanian Tory you may be acquainted with, that none of that sort of people ever come here.
