Full Text

Capt. Hill, in the letter of marque ship Cicero, arrived at Beverly on Monday last, in six weeks from Bilboa.

An account was received in Spain, before Capt. Hill sailed, of the capture of the British army under the command of Lord Cornwallis.

A short time after Capt. Hill came out, he spoke with a vessel bound to Boston, from St. Antonio, by whom he was informed, that the privateer ship Grand Turk, Captain Pratt, was arrived there from this port, and had carried in with her two valuable prizes; one, a vessel loaded with fish; and the other, a large Jamaica-man, said to have 100 hogsheads of sugar on board: And the Grand Turk had also taken, in her passage from hence, three or four other prizes.

Colonel John Trumbull, son of his Excellency the Governor of Connecticut, came passenger in the Cicero; also Major John Adams, jun. son of his Excellency John Adams, Esq.

We have no material advices, of a public nature, by Capt. Hill. The Spaniards had not reduced, but continued to besiege the castle of St. Philip, on the island of Minorca, and the fortress of Gibraltar.

We hear that an Antigua paper, which was brought in a Cartel lately arrived from that island, gives an account, that the privateer ship Jason, belonging to this port, commanded by Capt. Hamilton, and the privateer ship Hercules, belonging to Boston, are both taken, and carried into Ireland:

At Antigua and St Kitts they were under great apprehensions of an invasion by an armament from Martinico. It is also said that at Jamaica they are in daily expectation of an attack from the Spaniards.
