Police here were notified Saturday night that Bate White, wanted in San Diego on a charge of having passed a worthless check, had just purchased a new Paige coupe, giving a check for $3000 in payment for the car. It was reported that the check had proved worthless and it was believed that White was headed into the valley with the machine. The net was spread throughout the valley over the weekend in an effort to locate Bate White. White was described as being about 40 years old, weight about 190 pounds, height approximately 5 feet, 10 inches. He wore a gray suit and tan shoes.

The machine had no license.

The search for him here, however, failed to show any trace of the man.
