More Trouble. Major Barry, the new Postmaster General, has removed Mr. Hawkins from the Post-Office, at Frankfort, Kentucky, on the charge of being a defaulter. This charge is denied by Mr. Hawkins, who charges Mr. Barry with neglecting to credit him with a draft, drawn for $1020. No notice was given Mr. Hawkins of the charges preferred against him, until the new Postmaster stepped into the office and showed his commission. From the Address of Mr. Hawkins, we should suppose him not only to be an honest, but a highly respectable officer. The Commentator, in closing an article on this subject, says:--

"Mr. Barry and Mr. Hawkins were early friends and their friendship appeared to be uninterrupted, until the former left the State for Washington. He knew Mr. Hawkins well--knew his integrity, and if he was compelled to turn him out, because he had not advocated the election of Jackson, his situation, as Postmaster General, is any thing but an honorable one--it is a place fit only for a slave. But then the charge against Mr. Hawkins of being a defaulter--this is Mr. Barry's own act! That after having removed Mr. Hawkins, either of his own accord, or by order, on account of his political opinion--for there was no other cause--he should attempt to justify it, by putting forth an ill-grounded charge of his being a public defaulter--there is something in the thing so loathsome that one hardly knows how to speak of it. Such a charge, too, comes with an ill grace from Wm. T. Barry. Who, himself, is, and for many years has been, a defaulter to the government, and to the very department over which he now presides, for TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS, as the records of the Federal Court, in this town will show--and there are matters connected with this delinquency, which, unless we are much misinformed, would make common men stare.-- About this we may have occasion to say more hereafter."
