WITH this issue of TRAINMAN NEWS, a new conductor takes over the run of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen's official weekly newspaper, but his goals are the same high objectives which have been targeted in the past.

Aware that an informed BRT is an alert and progressive BRT, we'll continue to keep Brotherhood members posted on the many activities of their organization which is ever striving to obtain the gains on the bargaining and legislative fronts that lead to a fuller and richer life for all concerned.

By the same token, accomplishments of labor in general will be brought to the fore so that the experiences of others will help to prepare us to better serve our Brotherhood and fellow men.

Legislative developments in Canada and the United States which vitally affect the lives of all working people will be closely monitored and warning signals sent out through the columns of this publication when our welfare is at stake.

But, all this and much more has been the role of TRAINMAN NEWS throughout the eight years of its existence and it will continue to perform that service in the world of today with its rapidly-changing scenes.

The outgoing editor, Irvin S. Lippe, who is re-entering Foreign Service of the Department of State as labor attache to the U. S. Consulate-General at Kuala Lumpur, Malaya, has made an enviable mark in labor journalism during his years of distinguished service to the Brotherhood. It has been our privilege to work with him and gain knowledge from him. We know that he will serve labor and the nation well in his new post, and our best wishes and those of his many friends throughout the large Brotherhood family go with him.

We're grateful, too, to President W. P. Kennedy and the Brotherhood for the confidence placed in us. It will be our purpose to retain that confidence by keeping TRAINMAN NEWS a newsy, informative publication with the same high ideals that have characterized its run.

The continued, fine cooperation of BRT officers and members everywhere is urged to aid us in attaining our goals. Your help goes a long way.

Let us hear from you regularly with reports on BRT doings. We'll all benefit by telling the "BRT Story."

With our objectives outlined and our orders at hand, we'd like to borrow the call of the passenger conductor and shout out-
