LEYDEN. (Holland) January 28.

It appears by letters from Vienna, that the troubles in Transylvania are about to be ended; that a great number of the rebels have submitted, or been dispersed; and that their chief Horiah has been obliged to fly for safety. The following letter, however, does not promise so happy nor so quick a termination to these confusions:--A battle has taken place on the borders of the river Marosch, with all the formalities of regular war, between the Walachian rebels and some imperial regiments; the Walachians resisted the musquet fire for near two hours, but the cannon obliged them to give way. Orders were received from the Emperor to spare none of these rebels, and in the morning 100 of them, who had been taken prisoners, were hanged. The rebels still consist of 20,000 men; and although the Sublime Porte issued the most strict orders to kill all who should appear on the frontiers of Turkey, nevertheless, an old Lieutenant Colonel, formerly in the Austrian service, raised in Turkish Walachia, a body of some thousand vagabonds, as a reinforcement of the rebels. In case this revolt is not speedily crushed, it is to be feared, that the Hungarians of four districts, where mischief is breeding, will join the Walachians. These Hungarians refuse to obey their master, and say, that as they are conscribed by the Emperor, they will acknowledge no other master.
