Young Barre Democrat Will Take Second Place.

ON INDEPENDENT TICKET

Chairman D. W. McDonald of the Democratic City Committee States the Situation.

Barre, June 6.-The following from D. M. McDonald, chairman of the Democratic city committee, sufficiently explains the position of G. Herbert Pape relative to the proposed fusion of democrats and independent republicans in the present state campaign:

As there seems to be some misunderstanding about the position of G. Herbert Pape in regard to accepting a nomination for the position of lieutenant-governor on a fusion ticket with P. W. Clement, we are authorized to make the following statement: Should the democratic state convention to be held at Burlington on June 28th next decide to fuse with the Clement forces and see fit to honor Mr Pape with the second place on such fusion ticket, he will accept such nomination.
