ATTEMPT AT MUTINY. Between eighty and ninety German troops, intended for the Florida war, got into a row with the crew of the ship Eliza and Ann, while lying out in the stream, on Sunday afternoon. The matter at one time assumed rather a serious aspect, but a boat from the Navy Yard, having ascertained the state of things, informed Col. Cutter, the commandant at Bedloe's Island, and that officer went on board and placed a Capt. Sielar under arrest, and put one of the Lieutenants in command of the refractory Germans; this greatly enraged the latter who exhibited such a contumacious spirit toward the crew of the ship that they refused to go to sea, and Capt. Wade was compelled to go ashore and ship a new crew, and to part with his chief mate. There were on board thirty-one men (Americans) from Philadelphia, under the command Lieut. Pew and Jacobs, who took a very active part in the original affray, and in consequence of some alleged misconduct on the part of Lieut. Pew, he was also arrested and delivered for trial. After this we believe peace was restored, and the ship put to sea yesterday afternoon.—N. Y. Era.
