Event Details
Between eighty and ninety German troops intended for the Florida war got into a row with the crew of the ship Eliza and Ann while lying out in the stream on Sunday afternoon. A boat from the Navy Yard informed Col. Cutter, who arrested Capt. Sielar and placed a Lieutenant in command of the Germans, enraging them. The crew refused to go to sea, forcing Capt. Wade to ship a new crew and part with his chief mate. Thirty-one American men from Philadelphia under Lieut. Pew and Jacobs participated in the affray; Pew was arrested for alleged misconduct.
