Says All Should Take Out
Insurance Against Lines
By HELEN JAMESON

Somebody has said that wrinkles give character to the face. Yeah? Who wants that kind of character? Certainly no woman in her senses. If she is confronted with them, one of her perplexing mysteries is why flesh on the body remains firm and smooth while the face takes on accordion pleats.
It was cruel of Mama Nature to arrange matters that way. Facial creases are altogether hateful: there is no health in them.
The skin surface of the body is protected by the clothing, while the epidermal coat of the countenance is buffeted by harsh winds burned by the sunlight, coarsened somewhat by atmospheric dust. The fingers of the body are exercised by movements, kept strong and resilient if one will take care of them. True, talking and eating give movement to facial muscles, but only along the southern border. Wrinkles don't appear there. They settle around the eyes, between the eyes, across the forehead.
HABIT WRINKLES
Frown lines are railroad tracks across the forehead are habit wrinkles. We put them there, and are not we silly to do it? Squinting carves in the turkey tracks, so does impaired vision.
Every young woman who is edging toward 25 should take out insurance against these blemishes. It is not enough to catch the young: one must begin before there is a sign of a furrow. After 40, sometimes before, the facial tissues soften, tiny lines appear. This state of dissolution may be due to lack of proper nourishment to the cells, to sleeplessness, worry, illness. By giving oneself a little beautifying attention, these disfiguring marks can be kept at bay until one is 60, even longer. It is necessary to get an early start.
Before going to bed, don't fail to place cream on a clean skin surface and to do five minutes of brisk tapping and slapping. Don't rub the cream on any old way; stroke it in with a persuasive upward movement. Start at the collar bones. If you don't do something about your neck, it is likely to fall down on you any minute.
ROLL DIRT OFF
Use heavy cream, cold cream is too slippery: your fingers won't press into the flesh. And, by the way, if you use cream at bath time -a thin emollient is best then - leave it on while you soak, then remove it with cleansing tissues - and watch the dirt and makeup roll off!
Unless the skin is unusually oily, it is a wise plan to let a creamy cosmetic remain on over night. The flesh will absorb it, lap it up as a kitten laps up cream.
You won't need to use soap in the morning. Just dash on cold water, then dip a piece of cotton in an astringent, slap the cotton on your face.
