At U. W. Honors Convocation
Twelve Nisei were honored with elections to honor societies at the twelfth Honors Convocation of the University of Washington last Wednesday in Meany Hall.
James Hiromu Nishitani and Kenjiro Nakamura were elected as associate members of Sigma Xi, a science honorary. Among the Tau Beta Pi, engineering honorary, initiates were Kazuo Kumasaka, Toru Shimizu, and Henry Shiyoso Tamada.
Pre-medical students, Akira Horita and John Masayoshi Kanda, were invited into the Alpha Epsilon Delta.
On the upper campus three honoraries listed Nisei as new members. Beta Gamma Sigma, Business Administration, selected Peggy Matsue Miyaki and Satoshi Tomita. The sociology honorary, Alpha Kappa Delta, included Grace Nishioka among its new members. Toshi Nakamura and Mabel Kiyo Shigaya were invited into the Art honorary, Lambda Rho.
As part of the convocation program the University Symphony Orchestra featured Johsel Namkung, a Korean bass.
