St. JOHN's (in Antigua,) May 15.

At a Meeting of the Gentlemen of the Assembly in St. John's, Wednesday May the 7th, 1760.

Commodore Moore having had a large share in the Reduction of Guadaloupe, by demolishing all the Forts of Basse Terre, its Capital; and, by that Means landed the Army there, without Opposition, or the loss of a Man; and also by taking the Forts at Point Petre, opened a Way for the Army to attack Grand Terre, and the Strong Holds on the North East Side of Guadaloupe, we are of opinion, That he deserves the Thanks of this Legislature, as well for this Service, as for the particular Service to English Harbour in this Island. We therefore desire the Concurrence of your Board, in returning our joint Thanks to Commodore Moore for these Services, and that His Excellency will do us the Honour of presenting our joint Thanks to him, and our good wishes for his future Success and Prosperity.

By Order of the Assembly,

SAMUEL MARTIN, Speaker

His Excellency General Thomas was accordingly pleased to deliver to Mr. Moore, the Thanks requested by those two Branches.

Since Mr. Moore's taking upon him the Command in these Seas, His Majesty's Ships and Vessels upon these Stations have taken from the Enemy Sixty One of their Privateers, and destroyed four others; and retaken fifty Vessels, that they had taken as Prizes; and also taken many Vessels carrying Provisions, and other Supplies to the Enemy.

Commodore Moore sailed for England last Monday, in His Majesty's Ship Berwick of 64 Guns. All the Merchantmen both for England and North America, that could be got ready, went under his Convoy.
