The Crescent City Gas Company.

New Orleans, February 2, 1875.

Editor Republican:

Lest a portion of the editorial in this morning's Republican in relation to the gas case may lead to misconception, we feel constrained to state that our clients represent nearly the whole of the stock of the Crescent City Company; that they are men who have no political wounds to heal or revenge, and who never mix business with politics. They expect to have pleasant relations with the citizens of New Orleans, but only as business men. The contest was purely legal and afforded no ground for feeling on either side. You will fail to find in the conduct of the case the least foundation for the political part of the article.

Our clients regard a gas company as a private corporation only, and under no circumstances will they permit their company to hold any political affiliations with any body.

Yours sincerely,

C. GIBSON, of St. Louis.
