A Case of Slave Stealing is in controversy between Mississippi and North Carolina. A citizen of Mississippi has been accused, on affidavit, of stealing a negro and carrying him into North Carolina. Gov. McNutt made a formal demand on Gov. Morehead for the delivery of the accused, and sent a special messenger to identify him and bring him back. Gov. Morehead refused to deliver him, and the Mississippi Legislature have passed formal resolutions "reprobating" the conduct of the North Carolina Governor.
