EMIGRATION OF INDIANS. The business of Cherokee emigration is prospering in Georgia; and the Commissioners appointed to superintend the same, are removing the prejudice of the disaffected natives. A detachment of 6 or 7 hundred Cherokees started from the Cherokee Agency, about four or five weeks ago, for their new homes in the fertile west Several hundred others, who preferred to commute with the Government for their transportation and subsistence also started about the same time and a large number of families are making active preparations for a speedy departure. It is hoped that the anticipations of difficulty in the removal of the Indians will not be realized—and that the influence of John Ross and his party is destroyed.
