AntiLabor Bill
POCATELLO, Idaho-
Don't sign petitions for the infamous "right-to-work" measure, warns M. T. Chadwick, general chairman Union Pacific Railroad, Central District.
Such a petition is being circulated in the state, he warns, by anti-labor forces who were turned down by state legislators when their true colors were revealed.
The so-called "right-to-work" bill is an effort "to saddle the honest and hard-toiling working men of this state with a proposal which is primarily designed to emasculate collective bargaining and substitute political arbitration in its place," said Chadwick.
They are circulating the petition for an initiative referendum vote to be placed on the ballot in the next general election, Chadwick reports.
Appoint yourself a committee of one, advises Chadwick, to contact family, friends and neighbors and warn them of the evil intent of the petition, and ask that they do not sign the petition for an initiative referendum on the "right-to-work" bill.
A few officials of labor cannot combat this bill, Chadwick says. It will take the active help of all labor members. He warns that this type of legislation was first sponsored by Hitler and Mussolini.
Chadwick says he wonders how these anti-labor people would react if just the opposite legislation were introduced--that is, a bill providing that no worker who is not a union member could be given any benefits of pay increases or working conditions won by a union contract.
