Jail Breaking Prevented.

Trenton, Nov. 27.—A proposed jail delivery was nipped in the bud at the state prison yesterday, and John Langenburg, William Speer and William C. Housell, the convicts who had prepared the scheme, were put in dungeons. A fellow prisoner informed Head Keeper Patterson of their plans, and in their cells were found two prison suits dyed to another color, and a rope ladder thirty feet in length. The men were employed in the cocoa mat shop, and secreted coloring matter used there to dye their clothing. The ladder was made of cocoa strands. They were waiting for a dark or foggy night to make the break.

Langenburg and Speer are from Morris county, where they were sentenced last February to ten years for breaking and entering. Housell is doing a fifteen year term for burglary in Middlesex county.
