Edgefield Rebuilding Soils

Whoever said it, whether or no Dean Vivian of Ohio State college, there's a deal of truth in the dictum. "All the successful agriculture in the world has been developed around the legumes"; and County Agent Barton of Edgefield needs not to dissemble his pride that within 18 months he has rather thoroughly indoctrinated his people with the soil-building virtues of hairy vetch and crimson clover.

Edgefield farmers put down last winter more than 11 tons of clover and vetch seed and for this season they have already ordered upwards of 16 tons, with the likelihood of their purchases reaching 20 tons.
